Dear {name} This year’s Network State Conference in Rockhampton 8 – 11 May is shaping up to be a once in a lifetime U3A event.
The organising team at U3A Rockhampton have secured an impressive lineup of guest speakers and, importantly, have been successful in reducing the costs of the Conference and the 50th Anniversary celebrations. Check out the full Conference Programme here.
Conferences of this calibre normally cost more than $100 per day but with sponsor support and negotiations U3A Rockhampton have been able to cover all conference costs, except for the catering, thus halving the total cost for delegates. And events such as the 50th Anniversary Dinner would normally cost more than $100 per plate but the organisers have been able to stage a fine dining event at a greatly reduced cost of $65. And at $45 per person for the Network Dinner this represents great value for money.
The other benefit for delegates to the conference is that they may choose only those conference days and events that suit their availability and preference. Other conferences require payment of the total conference cost regardless of event attendance.
I therefore ask you to spread the word about this historic U3A event and encourage as many of your U3A members to join us in Rockhampton in May for three days of interesting conference activities and three nights of exciting events. U3A Rockhampton have also organised a complementary bus service to transport delegates to and from the conference and event locations and have organised a number of side events. While at the meet and greet, delegates can take a short tour of historic Quay St, the longest stretch of historical listed buildings in Australia and see the city in a horse drawn carriage; and there will be short, guided walking tours of Rockhampton along with tours of the art gallery.
So, you can see this conference will be like no other and should not be missed. I hope to see you there to renew friendships and meeting new U3A members.
Warm regards
