Treasurer
During her working career, Bronwyn’s first full time position began at a local pharmacy after leaving school. She left employment to have children then continued in a part-time role upon returning to work.
In 1979, Bronwyn started up a business with a friend, establishing a coffee shop in Renmark. She sold her share of the business to her business partner in January 1981 when the family moved to live on Norfolk Island. She again worked in a pharmacy, this time a duty-free outlet.
Bronwyn and her family moved to Cairns in 1988 where she took up the opportunity to attend University to obtain a Batchelor of Arts Degree in Community Welfare and a Batchelor of Commerce degree. Her employment experience then changed to working in a small accountancy office staying in this position until leaving in 2009.
In 2014, Bronwyn joined U3A Cairns to learn Bridge and Mahjong, and was then nominated for the position of Treasurer on the Management Committee until 2019. In appreciation of her service she was awarded an Honorary membership in 2018.
After relocating to Brisbane in 2019 Bronwyn’s passion to remain involved in U3A resulted in becoming a member of U3A Brisbane and subsequently was elected to the Network Management Committee in 2020 in the position of Treasurer. In this role she has gained experience with both budgeting and Insurance policy procedures.
The opportunity to continue in this role would enable her passion for the growth of U3A associations in regional areas. She strongly values the interactive learning for older people that U3A offers.
