Membership Assist
David Bowden was elected to the U3A Network Management Committee at the Annual General Meeting on 8 June 2022,
David is a past President U3A Roma, having joined U3A Roma 2011. He was involved with the original setting up of the Association in Roma. He was later elected to the committee, later became Vice President and in 2020 was elected President.
He has been a guest speaker on behalf of COTAQ at an Annual General Meeting and a Tutor of Creative Writing. He attended U3A Toowoomba Conference in 2019 where he met U3A Toulouse International President Francois Vella.
David has also been a Member of Toastmasters International for 50 years and has held all senior positions at Club, Area, Division and District levels. He served for three years in senior positions for Queensland, Northern New South Wales and Northern Territory. Has represented District at International Conventions in United States of America and Canada. Responsible for 3,300 Members and 176 Clubs. David started playing Lawn Bowls in Rockhampton 43 years ago. He has been a bowler, committee member and in later years a committee member and president in Mitchell before moving to Roma. Currently David is on the Roma Bowls Club Committee as a Club Coach.
David is a published author of three historical books on Muckadilla, Surat and Wallumbilla. The Roma council has had two booklets produced for tourists written by David. David joined Rockhampton Writers Group in 1979, then the Roma Writers Group in 1991. He has been President, judge of short stories, ran writing courses and contests, and was elected as an advanced writer for Bundaberg Writers Conference.
David is an active Lay Minister for All Saints, Catholic Church Roma and joined the Wallumbilla Freemasons in 2016. He sas elected to the United Grand Lodge of Queensland Team 2021 and re-elected in 2022. He is Editor of Roma History Group Magazine and a Member on Executive of the Roma Community Men’s Shed.
